Doral Golf Resort and Spa  (Miami, FL)              2012                                                                                   19th Holes Staff Ranking: Three Golf Balls (Birdie)

Home to a PGA tour stop since 1962 (formerly known as the Doral CC Open Invitational which first included the likes Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, and Gary Player) and located only steps away from South Beach in sunny Miami, FL, the Doral Golf Resort and Spa welcomes all types of resort golfers.  The best part - you will not have to venture far from the resort during your stay with several dining options, a world class spa, plus 90 holes of golf.

While TPC Blue Monster (18th green pictured top right soon after the WGC Cadillac Championship) is the major draw for this resort, one will also enjoy the McLean Course plus the Great White Course (designed by Greg Norman - 18th Green pictured bottom right).  As for the dining options, you can enjoy dinner in the room you may be staying in (as its presently a Marriott property - stay tuned though) but our staff would point you to two other dining options: Champions Sports Bar & Grill and the Mesazul Steakhouse.

The Champions Sports Bar & Grill is the perfect option for those golfers simply looking for a before/after round meal with a decent beer selection plus a patio with views of the 18th and 9th greens.  Mesazul Steakhouse is a more upscale option, resort causual attire though, with a large selection of wine and a bountiful menu.  At the Mesazul Steakhouse, our staff would recommend the Seafood Tower (certainly an appetizer to share with its assortment of jumbo prawns, chilled Maine lobster, and ceviche) and the 12 oz. churrasco grilled skirt steak.

Important Notes: Donald Trump has bought the resort and its accompanying courses effective June 2012.  While he has promised to throw millions of dollars into the resort for room, restaurant, and course renovations, one will have to wait-and-see how it will be managed/operated and whether it will remain accessible to the casual resort golfer.
