Homestead Resort - Old Course                          (Hot Springs, VA)                                                          2011                                                                                               19th Hole Staff Ranking: Three Golf Balls (Birdie)

Step 1:  Tee off on the oldest continuously played 1st hole in the United States

Step 2: Enjoy this challenging Donald Ross design with the smallest greens you will ever come across while contending with naturally landscaped fairways

Step 3:  Let the staff take care of your clubs and enjoy an after round drink and lunch/dinner at the Casino Club Restaurant.  While the 19th hole for the Homestead Resort's Old Course only offers views of the hotel, its back lawn and tennis courts (unless you enjoy a seat outside where you may catch a glimpse of the aforementioned first hole tee), you are immediately taken back to the days when golf was a new sport in the US.  If you try hard enough you can almost picture Sam Snead and several sitting US Presidents trying their own luck on the Old Course.

The Casino Club Restaurant offers your typical American fare with hearty sandwiches, soups, and salads.  Our staff found the restaurant's Baja Steak Salad to be top-notch with marinated skirt steak served over crisp lettuce with roasted corn, beans, and tortilla strips to top off a robust entree salad.

Important Notes: The Casino Club Restaurant is seasonal so be sure to note hours of operation upon your arrival.

For those golfers enjoying a round at the Homestead's Old Course who are looking for a more refined food choices while still in a casual atmosphere, our staff would want to point you to Sam Snead's Tavern.  This restaurant, while connected to the resort, it actually sits just across the street at the top of Hot Springs, VA.  Sam Snead's offers a wide array of options (dinner only) but if you feel like a savory hand-butchered steak, don't look any further as our staff believes this restaurant has some of the best filets and rib-eyes you'll ever devour.
